Routine Examination

At Family Dental Care we like to see our patients on a regular basis. This is normally every 6 months but intervals can vary depending on the individual.

Why do we have routine exams?

Believe it or not but most dental disease is painless and does not give rise to symptoms. Pain is often experienced only when dental problems are advanced. That is why we look to spot problems early and take steps to prevent them getting worse.

What are we looking for?

Your dentist will examine your mouth to see if it is healthy. To look for inflammation in your gums that might be a sign of gum disease or other problems. Tooth decay (caries) can be detected (sometimes with the help of xrays) and the dentist will also check your jaw and its movement.
